Programme 3 · Rights & Access to Help
medicare.ngo
Independent, plain-language information about Medicare, the US health insurance programme for people aged 65 and over.
Five checks before you apply or seek help
- Use official channels. Find the official service through the government’s own website (in the UK, GOV.UK) rather than through search adverts.
- Check that a professional is registered with the relevant regulator — in England, for example, the Solicitors Regulation Authority for solicitors and the General Dental Council for dentists.
- Ask for costs in writing before you agree to anything.
- Be wary of anyone who guarantees an outcome, asks for payment in unusual ways or asks you to keep the arrangement secret.
- Know how to complain: providers must explain their complaints procedure, and ombudsman services are free to use.

Programme 3 · Rights & Access to HelpThis site
Legal help, migration, identity documents and health costs: official channels, your rights and free support.

Any related-party transaction is approved and recorded under our articles and disclosed in our annual community interest report.
